A square sheet of paper measures 40cm. A strip 5cm wide is cut off from it all around. Find the area of the remaining sheet and also the strip cut out.
Answers
let the side of sheet is 40 cm
area of sheet =(side)^2
= 40^2
= 1600 sqcm
A strip of width 5 cm is cut out all round from a sheet of paper
Let that form a inner square
side of inner square = 40-5-5-5-5
=20cm
area of inner square is (side)^2
= 20 ^2
= 400 sq cm
therefore area of remaining sheet is 40sqcm.
Area of the strip cut out = Area of outer square - Area of inner square
= 1600cm2−400cm2=1200cm2
Answer:
area of whole square=40cm^2
=40×40
=1600cm^2
one side of inner square=40-(5+5)
=30
Area of inner square=30cm^2
=30×30
900cm^2
Area of strip cut off=1600-900
=700cm^2 ans
