Given,

Side of tile = 20cm

First  we  change  it  to Metre

We know,

1m = 100cm

100 cm = 1 m

1 cm = 1/100 m

20 cm = 20/100 m

20 cm = 1/5 m

20 cm = 0.2 m

Area  of  tile = (side)²

                     = 0.2 × 0.2

Area of  tile   = 0.04 m²

It is given that tile can carry a  pressure  of  40N/m². If  the  force applied  by this  pressure is  F,

F = Pressure × Area to tile

F = 40 × 0.04

F = 4 ×  0.4

F = 1.6 N

Hence, It  can not withstand any  force more  than 1.6 N
