A stairway 10ft high is such that each step accounts for half a foot upward and one-foot forward. What distance will an ant travel if it starts from the ground level to reach the top of the stairway?​

The ant also has to go forward. As there are 20 stairs and each stair is one fit forward, we may jump into the conclusion that it will travel 20 fit forward but think the ant has to reach at the 20th stairs after reaching at the 20th stairs it won't travel the length of the 20th stair. That's why it will travel the length of 19 stairs forward.
