Answer:

B joined after 4 months

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

A started business with an investment of Rs 54000 after some months

B started business with an investment of Rs 45000

At end of the year total profit was Rs 35700

In total profit A share is Rs 22950

⇒  B share in total profit = Rs 35700 - Rs 22950 = Rs 12750

here we need to find after how many months B has joined the business

from given data we can conclude that A invested entire 12 months

and let B invested for x months

⇒ then the ratio of profit of A to B = 54000 × 12 : 45000 ×  x

from given data the ratio of the profit shares of A and B = 22950 : 12750

                                                                                             =  1.8 : 1

⇒  54000 × 12 : 45000 × (x) = 1.8 : 1

\frac{54000 (12)}{45000(x)} =  \frac{ 1.8}{1}

⇒ 54000(12) = 1.8 (45000x)

⇒ x =  54 (12)/ 1.8 (45)

⇒ x = \frac{648}{81} = 8

⇒ B invested for 8 months

⇒ B joined after 12 - 8 = 4 months
