Given : A started a business with some investment.

After 4 months A left the business and B joins the business with investment equal to the 2/5th of the amount invested by A. At the same time C also join the business with investment equal to the 3/2th of the amount invested by A.

at the end of the year, the difference between the profit share of A and C is Rs. 1000,

To find :   the total profit earned by them.

Solution:

Let say  A invested  = 10x

for 4 months  = 10x * 4  = 40x

B joins the business with investment equal to the 2/5th of the amount invested by A  = (2/5) *10x  = 4x

for 12 - 4 = 8 months

hence 4x * 8  = 32x

C also join the business with investment equal to the 3/2th of the amount invested by A.

(3/2)10x  = 15x

for 8 month

15x  * 8  = 120x

A : B : C  = 40x : 32x  : 120x

Total = 40x + 32x + 120x  = 192x

difference between the profit share of A and C is Rs. 1000

=> 120x  - 40x  = 80 x  = 1000

=> x  = 1000/80

=> 192x  = 192 * 1000 / 80  =  2400

the total profit earned by them. = 2400
