• It is mandatory for the candidate to be on the electoral register for at     least five years directly before the election;
• It is a must for the candidate to be at the age of 25 or older on the day of election;
• The willing candidate must also have served in the province for five years;
• A candidate should also be a member of one political party for at least 90 days before the election.
