A stationary wave is making 5 loops. The distance between 2 stationary points is 10 cm and its velocity is 20 m/s. What will be fundamental harmonic frequency?

We can take the distance of 2 stationary points as λ/2,

λ/2 = 10 cm

λ    = 20 cm

     = 0.2 m

Then we can use  v = fλ  to find the 5th Harmonic frequency f5 (Since the wave has 5 loops)

20 = f5 x 0.2

f5  = 100 Hz

Then from f5/5 we can take the value of the fundamental harmonic frequency f1,

f1 = f5/5

  = 100/5

  = 20 Hz
