Correct option is

A

15 % profit

Total number of pens =300

Pens sold at no loss no profit =4300 = 75

Pens sold at 20% profit = 300−75=225

Let C.P. of one pen =Rs 1

C.P. of 225 pens =Rs 225

Total Profit =20%of225=10020×225=45

Total S.P. =225+45=270

Now, Including the pens sold at no profit and no loss.

Total CP =225+75=300

Total SP =270+75=345

Profit % =30045×100=15%

Hence, option 'A' is correct.

Concept:

Profit = Selling price - Cost price.

Discount = Selling price - profit - cost price

Discount % = Discount / Selling price × 100

Given:

Cost price of 1 pencil = Rs. 300

Selling price of 1 pencil = Rs. 400

Profit % = 30 %

Find:

We need to find the discount allowed by him.

Solution:

Profit = 30 % CP

Profit = 30 / 100 × ( 300) =  Rs.90

Selling price = Rs.400

Discount = 400 - 300 - 90 = Rs.10

Percentage of discount = 10 / 400 × 100 = 2.5 %

Therefore, the percent discount he allows to his customers is 2.5 %.
