A steamer goes downstream and covers the distance between two point in 4 hours while it covers the same distance upstream in 6 hours if the speed of stream into km per hour find the speed of Seema is in still water

Answer : Let speed of steamer in still water =
x km \hour
The speed of steamer in down stream =
(x + 2) km \hour

Distance =
speed \times time
Distance covered in
6 \: hour
while going downstream
Distance =
(x + 2) \times 4
Distance =
(x - 2) \times 6
distance =
6 (x + 2)km
Since the distance in both cases are same therefore.

4(x + 2) = 6(x - 2)
4x + 8 = - 12 - 8
 - 2x = - 20
2x = 20
reduced the
20 \div 2
the answer is
10km \: per \: hour

Answer:

A steamer goes downstream and covers the distance between two point in 4 hours while it covers the same distance upstream in 6 hours if the speed of stream into km per hour find the speed of Seema is in still water

Step-by-step explanation:

Answer : Let speed of steamer in still water =

x km \hour

The speed of steamer in down stream =

(x + 2) km \hour

Distance =

speed \times time

Distance covered in

6 \: hour

while going downstream

Distance =

(x + 2) \times 4

Distance =

(x - 2) \times 6

distance =

6 (x + 2)km

Since the distance in both cases are same therefore.

4(x + 2) = 6(x - 2)

4x + 8 = - 12 - 8

 - 2x = - 20

2x = 20

reduced the

20 \div 2

the answer is

10km \: per \: hour
