A steel bolt of diameter 10mm passes through a brass tube of internal diameter 15mm and external diameter 25mm. The bolt is

tightened by nut so that the length of tube is reduced by 1.5mm. If the temperature of the assembly is raised by 40 degree

centigrade, estimate the stresses in the bolt and tube before and after heating. Take E for steel 200 KN/mm2

and for brass 100
