A steel rod 70 cm long has a mass of 7 kg .If wire is under a tension of 100N ,what is the speed of transverse wave??

# Given-
m = 7 kg
l = 70 cm = 0.7 m
T = 100N

# Solution-
Mass per unit length of rod is
μ = m/l = 7/0.7 = 10 kg/m

Speed of transverse wave is given by -
v = √(T/μ)
v = √(100/10)
v = √10
v = 3.16 m/s

Speed of the transverse wave is 3.16 m/s.
