Work done per unit volume of wire is 10000 kJ.

Explanation:

1. Work done(W) in change in length of wire per unit of volume can find out from formula

W = \frac{1}{2}\times (\frac{\Delta L}{L})^{2}\times E     ...1)

2. Where \Delta L is change in length of wire.

  \Delta L = 1.5 cm = 0.015 m

3.  L is initial length of wire

   L = 1.5 m

4. E is modulus of elasticity of steel material

   E = 200 G Pa = 200\times 10^{9}(\frac{N}{m^{2}})

   above value of E is fix for steel material.

5. Now putting all value in equation 1)

    W = \frac{1}{2}\times (\frac{0.015}{1.5})^{2}\times 200 \times 10^{9}

  on calculating W = 10000000 J = 10000 kJ
