A step up transformer has 250 turns on its primary and 500 turns on it secondary. When the primary is connected to a 200 V and the secondary is connected to a floodlight that draws 5A, what is the power output?

FOR A TRANSFORMER ,

●Ip/ Is = Ns/ Np = Vs / Vp●

Now using the above relation ,

Ip/ Is = Ns / Np

Ip = (Ns × Is )/ Np

Ip = (500 × 5)/ 250

●Ip = 10 ampere

Again using the relation ,

Vp/Vs = Ns/ Np

Vs = (Vp × Np)/Ns

Vs = (200 × 250)/500

● Vs = 100 volt

NOW , OUTPUT POWER = Vs × Is

= 100 × 10

= 1000 watt
