It is stated that,

u=0

a=g=9.8 m/s²

According to the equation of height we get,

h= ut + 1/2 gt²

  = 0*2+1/2*9.8*2²

   = 0+16.6

  = 19.6 m

∴ The distance covered is 19.6 m

The distance covered by the stone in 2 seconds is 19.6 m.

Given,

Initial velocity (u) = 0 m/s {at rest}

Acceleration (a) = g = 9.8 m/s² {free fall under gravity}

Time (t) = 2 seconds.

To Find,

The distance covered by the stone.

Solution,

We know that,

From the equation of motion, h = ut + 1/2 gt²

⇒ h = 0x2 + 1/2 x 9.8 x (2)²

⇒ h = 0 + 19.6

⇒ h = 19.6 m

Therefore, the distance covered by the stone in 2 seconds is 19.6 m.
