We know from Kinematics laws that
v = u+at
So here in the given question
a = g = 9.8 \: or \: 10m {s}^{ - 2}  \\ as \: the \: stone \: is \: dropped \: u = 0 \\ so \: we \: get \: that \: v = 5(9.8) = 49m {s}^{ - 1} \\ or \: if \: g \:  = 10m {s}^{ - 2}  \\ then \: v = 5(10) = 50m {s}^{ - 1}
