Use the equations of motion.

Since the initial velocity equals zero. So S=1/2gt^2

t^2= \frac{2s}{a}

t=√100/9.8=3.2sec

Answer:

The stone reached the bottom of the well in 3.2 sec.

Explanation:

Given that,

Distance s = 50 meter

Initial velocity u = o

We need to calculate the time,

Using equation of motion,

s = ut +\dfrac{1}{2}gt^2

Where, s = height

g = acceleration due to gravity

t = time

Put the value into the equation

50=0+\dfrac{1}{2}\times9.8\times t^2

t^2=\dfrac{50}{4.9}

t=\sqrt{10.20}

t = 3.2\ sec

Hence, The stone reached the bottom of the well in 3.2 sec.
