v= u+gt....(I)

here, u = initial velocity

v = final velocity

g = acceleration due to gravity

t = time

Put the value of all element in equation (I)

0=5+9.8\times t

t= 0.5\ s

The height when the stone hits the ground

Again using equation of motion

s=ut-\dfrac{1}{2}gt^2

s=5\times0.5-\dfrac{1}{2}\times9.8\times (0.5)^2

s= 1.2\ m

The height of the balloon will be

H= h+h'

H= 50+1.2=51.2\ m

Hence, The height when the stone hits the ground is 51.2 m.
