A stone is dropped from a height of 50 m. Calculate the time taken to reach the ground.​

Given:-

  • Height = 50m

  • Acceleration due to gravity = + 10m/s²

  • Initial Velocity of stone = 0m/s

To Find:-

  • Time taken to reach the ground.

Formulae used:-

  • s = ut + ½ × a × t²

Where,

  • s = Distance
  • u = Initial Velocity
  • a = Acceleration
  • t = Time

Now,

→ h = ut + ½ × gt²

→ 50 = 0 × t + ½ × 10 × t²

→ 50 = 0 + ½ × 10 × t²

→ 50 = 5t²

→ t² = 50/5

→ t² = 10

→ √t² = √10

→ t = 3.16s

Hence, The stone will take 3.16 seconds to reach the ground.
