s = ut + 1/2 at^2
30 = u × 10 + 1/2 × 10 × 10^2
30 = 10u + 500

u = -470 / 10
u = -47 m/s
Therefore, velocity of the ballon was 47 m/s in upward direction when stone was dropped from it.
