We know that s=ut+(1/2)g(t^2). (u = 0)
so, 250 m = 0.5 * 10 * t^2.
therefore time taken to reach the water surface = 7.07sec {aprox}
when it hits the water. time taken to reach the top= distance / speed of sound.
t'= 250/340 sec = 0.73 sec {aprox}
therefore total time taken to hear the echo =t+t' = 7.07+0.73 = 7.80 sec.
