A stone is dropped from a window of a tall building and falls for 3 seconds before it hits the ground.

If the building is 44m tall, what is the speed of the stone when it hits the ground? Please state your solution coz I need it for referrence X)

s = 0 x 3 + 1/2 x 32.2 x 3^2 = 144.9 ft. Thus, the rock dropped from the window will travel a distance of about 144.9 ft before hitting the ground.

Hope this helps you!

Given,

Time taken by the stone to reach the ground = 3 seconds

Height of the building = 44m

To Find,

The speed of the stone when it hits the ground.

Solution,

By using the equation of motion

v = u+at

where, v is the final velocity, u is the initial velocity, a is the acceleration and t is the time taken.

So,

v = 0+10(3) { In this case a = g = 10 acceleration due to gravity}

v = 30 m/s

Hence, the speed of the stone when it hits the ground is 30 m/s.
