Displacement (s) = -500m

By superposition

Initial velocity of stone (u) = velocity of helicopter at that

instant

= v ( let )

Time taken (t ) = 6 sec

Use formula s = ut + 1/2 at^2

From thisyou will find u i.e required velocity

In the given question, the stone is thrown upwards from a height of 500 meters from a moving helicopter and it reaches the ground after 6 seconds. What we have to find is the velocity.

Height h is given, time t is given and putting it all in h = ut+1/2gtsqaure, we get u and then we use it in v square – u square = 2gh and get the value of v.
