When a stone is dropped from the edge of a roof:

  • For a freely falling body, acceleration will be constant.
  • The acceleration at any time till it reaches ground will the equal to the acceleration due to gravity.
  • As the earth pulls the object with a constant acceleration of 9.81 m/s and in downward, at any instant of time will be same.
  • therefore, acceleration at 1 sec= g=9.81 m/s
  • acceleration after 2 sec= g= 9.81 m/s.
