Time taken by splash to hear at the top is 11.47 s

Explanation:

Given data:

h=500 m

g = 10 m/s^2

v= 340 m/s

h= ut+(1/2)gt^2

500=0+(1/2)10 x t^2

Initial velocity , u= 0

t^2 = 1000/10 = 100

OR t=10 s

Let t' be the time taken by sound to reach the base of tower ,

then

t'=h/v=500/340=1.47 s

Total time "T" =t+t' = 10+1.47 = 11.47 s

Therefore time taken by splash to hear at the top is 11.47 s

Answer:11.4s

Explanation:

h=490m

g=9.8m/s^2

v=350m/s

formula is,

h=ut+1/2gt^2

490=0xt + 1/2x9.8 x t^2

490=0 + 4.9 x t^2

490= 4.9 x t^2

490/4.9= t^2

100= t^2

t=10s

t'=h/v

t'=490/350

t'=49/35

t'=1.4s

t+t'=final t

10+1.4=11.4

THEREFORE sound of splash will be heard after 11.4s
