A stone is dropped from the top of the tower 500m high into a pond of water at the base of the tower. When is the splash heard at the top? Given, g = 10 m/s sq. and speed of sound = 340 m/s.
I don't get this concept. Please explain.

s=ut+1/2at^2
500=1/2*10*t^2
1000=t^2
10s=t
This is the time taken by the ball to reach the surface of the water.
time take by sound to reach the top is given by:
s=v*t₁
500=340*t₁
1.47s=t₁
Therefore, the total time taken after the falling of the ball and then reaching the sound of splash to the top is (10+1.47)s=11.47s
