Time taken by stone to fall
T = sqrt(2H/g)
= sqrt(2 * 44.1 / 9.8)
= 3 seconds

Time taken by sound to travel = 3.13 - 3 = 0.13 seconds

Velocity of sound = Distance / Time
= 44.1 / 0.13
= 339.230 m/s

Answer:Time taken by the stone to reach the water surface can be calculated using the equation of motion s = ut + ½ gt2 Here u = 0, s = 44.1 m , g = 9.8 m/s2 So t = (2x44.1/9.8)½ = 3 s Therefore time taken by sound to travel this distance = 3.13 - 3 = 0.13 s Speed of sound in air = distance covered/Time = 44.1 m/ (0.13 s) = 339.23 m/s
