a stone is placed at the bottom of water tank appears raised by 80cm .What is the depth of water tank if the refractive index of water is 4/3​

                      Actual depth = 320 cm

Explanation:

                     We know,  Refractive Index = Actual depth / Observed depth

Let the stone is at the actual depth of x cm.

Here the observed depth is (x-80) cm.

Given refractive index of water = 4/3

∴   From the above equation ,

                     4/3 = x/(x-80)

          4(x-80) = 3x

                4x - 320 = 3x

                4x - 3x = 320

⇒             x = 320 cm , which is the actual depth of the water
