A stone is projected vertically upwards with a velocity of 40 m/s. Show that the

stone will reach the point of projection with the same velocity​

E = m g h  = 1/2 m v^2

  2 g h = v^2

In one case the initial kinetic energy is converted into potential energy

In the other case the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy

So the speeds at the bottom of the trajectory are equal.

Or 2 g h = Vf^2 - Vi^2

In one case Vf is zero and in the other case Vi is zero
