Solution

GIVEN

A stone is release from the the top of a tower of height 20 m

TO DETERMINE

The final velocity just before touching the ground

CALCULATION

Initial Velocity = u = 0 m/s

Height = h = 20 metre

\sf{ g\: = 10 \: \: m /{s}^{2} \: }

We are aware of the equation that

\sf{ {v}^{2} \: = {u}^{2} + 2gh \: }

\implies \: \sf{ {v}^{2} \: = {(0)}^{2} + 2 \times 10 \times 20 \: }

\implies \: \sf{ {v}^{2} \: = 400 }

\implies \: \sf{ {v}\: = \: 20}

Hence the final velocity just before touching the ground is 20 m/s
