Given :

Initial velocity of the stone = zero

Height of tower = 44.1m

To Find :

Final velocity of stone just before touching the ground.

Solution :

❒ Since acceleration due to gravity continuously acts on the stone throughout the motion, we can easily apply equation of kinematics to solve this question.

Third equation of kinematics :

  • v² - u² = 2gH

» v denotes final velocity

» u denotes initial velocity

» g denotes acceleration

» H denotes height

By substituting the given values;

➙ v² - u² = 2gH

➙ v² - 0² = 2(9.8)(44.1)

➙ v² = 864.36

➙ v = √864.36

v = 29.4 m/s
