Question:-

A stone is released from the top of a tower of height 50 m. Calculate its final velocity just before touching the ground.

Solution:-

Given,

  • Stone is dropped from the top of the tower.[ u = 0 ]
  • The stone covers a distance of 50m.

We can find the final velocity by using the third equation of motion:-

u = 0 ; s = 50m ; g = -10m/s²

➣ v² - u² = 2as

➣ v² - 0² = 2(10)(50)

➣ v² = 1000

➣ v = √1000

➣ v = 31.622 m/s

The final velocity of stone is 31.622m/s
