A stone is thrown from the top of a tower at an angle of 30° up with the horizontal with a velocity
of 16 m/s. After 4 seconds of flight it strikes the ground. Calculate the height of the tower from the ground and the horizontal range of the stone. (g = 9.8 m/s)

1) H = - ut + 1/2gt^2 ( sign convention : taking vertically downward as positive)

= -16 ( 4) + 1/2 x 10 x 16

= -64 + 80

= 16m

2) range = (ucosx )t

= 16 ( √3/2 ) 4

= 32 √3
