A stone is thrown in a vertically
upward direction with a velocity
of 5 ms. If the acceleration of the
stone during its motion is 10 m s2
in the downward direction, what
will be the height attained by the
stone and how much time will it
take to reach there?

Answer:

u=root 2gh

5=root 2×10×h

25=20h

h=25/20

=5/4

=1.25 m

Answer:

Height =5/4m and Time = 0.5 seconds

Explanation:

u=5m/s

g=10m/s^2

v=0(at max. height)

Using 1st eqn. of motion

v=u+gt

Since, accn is -ve

Therefore, t=u/g

t= 0.5 seconds

Using 2nd eqn.

h=ut+1/2gt^2

h=5/2-5/4

h=5/4
