A stone is thrown in vertically upward direction with a velocity of 5 ms-¹. If the
acceleration of the stone during its motion be 10 ms-² in the downward direction what
will be the height attained by the stone and how much time will it take to reach there?

Answer:

h = 1.25 m

t = 0.5 s

Explanation:

Given

a = -10 m/s²

u = 5 m/s

v = 0 m/s

To find distance (height),

2gh = v² - u²

h = v² - u²/2g

= (0)²- (5)²/2(-10)

= -25/-20

= 1.25 m

To find time,

a = v - u/t

t = v - u/a

= 0-5/-10

= 0.5 s

Hope it helps!!
