We know, that the acceleration due to gravity is 10ms^-2

Using the third second, equation of motion,

S = u * t  + 1/2 gt^2

Therefore, s = 1/2 * 10 * 36 = 180m

Thus, the distance travelled before hitting the ground is 180m.
