a stone is thrown upward and then it returns to the thower. is it a projectile ? explain

Answer: When a stone is thrown upward and then it returns to the thrower, it is not projectile. because a projectile should have two components of velocities in two mutually perpendicular directions. But here, the stone has velocity only in one direction, while going up or coming downwards.
