Answer: As stone will be thrown upward it will move under the influence of gravity so initially it will be accelerate until the velocity becomes zero after that it will start moving towards the surface of the earth again due to which we say that there are two possible values of time for the given condition.

For the value of time u can simply solve the equation

s = ut + [(at^2)/2]

Just put the values and solve the given equation for time on substituting the values you will get a quadratic equation .
