Its thrown vertically opposite, so at the highest point the v = 0 m/s.
And u is given as 20 m/s.
Taking a = 10 m/s2
Applying third equation of motion,
v2= u2 + 2as
0=202+2(-10)(s) {Negative sign of a shows acceleration in opposite direction}.
0=202−20(s)
400 =20(s)
20 m = s
So object will go upto 20 metres
