Given,
Initial Velocity (u) = 40m/s
g = 10m/s2
Final Velocity (v) = 0m/s

2gs = v2 - u2
2*-10*s = 0*0 - 40*40
-20*s = 0 - 40*40
s = 40*40/20
s = 80m

Total distance covered by him = 2*80 = 160m

Net Displacement = 0
