v^2-u^2=2gs

v=0m/s

u=40m/s

g=9.8m/s^2

since upward movement

v^2-u^2=2gs

0-1600=2*-9.8*s

-1600=-19.6s

s=81.63m

OR

with g=10m/s^2

-1600=-20s

s= 80m
