u = 20m/s; v = 0m/s; g = -9.8m/(s) square (g is negative as acceleration is in opposite direction, i.e. upwards)
v = u + gt
=> t = v-u/g
= 0-20/-9.8 = -20/-9.8 = 2.04s
h = ut + g(t) square / 2
= (20)(2.04) + (-9.8)(2.04)(2.04)/2
= 40.08 - 20.39
= 19.69 m
So, the stone will travel 19.69 m before it begins to fall.
