A stone is thrown vertically upwards & then it returns to the thrower. Is it projectile?explain?

when you throw a stone vertically upward your initial velocity is zero and both the distance and displacement are equal but when the stone comes down its final velocity will also be zero because the distance the ball had travelled is equal to the displacement of that stone that's why the final velocity will always remains zero .
