A stone is thrown vertically upwards. It reaches a maximum height in 3s. If the acceleration due to gravity be 9.8 m s2, calculate the initial velocity of the stone.

Final velocity of stone, v = 0

Acceleration due to gravity, g=−9.8m/s

2

Time, t = 3 sec

Using relation, v = u + gt

0=u−9.8×3

u = 29.4 m/s
