A stone is thrown vertically upwards, with initial velocity of 48 m/ s -1. Find the maximum height to which it rises. And the total time taken to return to earth.​

Answer:

1. By third equation of motion

v^2=u^2+2as

0=48×48-20s ( at maximum height v is zero)

s=48×48/20

s=115.2 m

From first equation of motion

v=u+at

0=48-10t

t= 4.8 s

Time ascent =Time of descent

Total time to reach ground =Time of ascent + Time of descent

Total time =4.8+4.8 = 9.6 s
