A stone is thrown verticle upwards with a initial velocity of 14 m/s.Find the maximum height and the time of ascent given g=9.8m/s2

Initial velocity of the stone = u = 14 m/s (Given)

Final velocity of the stone = v = 0 [ at the maximum height , v = 0 ]

Acceleration due to gravity(g), here will be taken as negative, as the direction of motion of object is opposite to "g".

Hence , g = -9.8 m/s²

Using the second equation of motion -

v² -u² = 2gh

0² - 14² = 2 ×-9.8

- 196 = -19.6h

h = - 196/-19.6

= 10 m

Therefore, the stone will go 10 metres high  before it begins to fall.
