♦ Centripetal Acceleration ♦

→ Defining F = ( Centripetal Force ) | "m", "a" holding their usual meaning
→ 'v' is the Tangential Velocity | 'r' is the Radius of the system

◘ Solution :

  • 'r' = 50cm = 0.5 m
  • 'v' = 1m s⁻¹

→ F = ma = mv² r ⁻¹
  => a = v² r ⁻¹

→ Centripetal Acceleration = ( 1 )² / ( 0.5 ) = 2m s⁻²

I assume that the question is asking for the centripetal acceleration.. so let me jump directly into it

Centripetal acceleration = v^2/r

Where 'r' is the radius and

'v' be the speed.

The centripetal acceleration, α = (2)^2/0.5 = 4/0.5 = 8 ms^-2

If you wonder why I wrote 0.5 it's becoz I converted all the quantities to SI unit system Thus 50cm = 0.5m
