Newton's law of motion

Answer :

Mass of stone = 2kg

Initial velocity = 4m/s

Final velocity = 10m/s

We have to find change in momentum of stone.

◈ Momentum is measured as product of mass and velocity.

  • P = mass × velocity

It is a vector quantity having both magnitude as well as direction.

SI unit : N s

Initial momentum :

⇒ Pi = m × u

⇒ Pi = 2 × 4

Pi = 8 N s

Final momentum :

⇒ Pf = m × v

⇒ Pf = 2 × 10

Pf = 20 N s

Change in momentum :

➝ ΔP = Pf - Pi

➝ ΔP = 20 - 8

ΔP = 12 N s
