The maximum energy released by stone is 2940 Joules.

1) first of all we have to understand that this is the concept of the potential energy as a stone is kept at some height so if a object is kept at a height then it possess the potential energy.

2) so when the stone is dropped from that height then that potential energy changes to the kinetic energy but we have to understand that maximum potential energy will convert to the the kinetic energy when it about to touch the ground.

PE = mgh

= 3×9.8×100

= 2940 joules
