Given:

  • Gravitational force acting on the resting stone on ground, F = 45 N
  • Acceleration due to gravity to be taken, g = 10 m/s²

To find:

  • Weight of stone =?
  • Mass of stone, m =?

Formula required:

  • Formula to calculate Gravitational force

         F = m g

[ Where F is Gravitational force acting on the body, m is mass of body and g is the acceleration due to gravity ]

Solution:

Since, Weight is known as the Gravitational force acting on a body.

Therefore,

  • Weight of stone = Gravitational force acting on stone = 45 Newton.

Now,

Using formula to calculate Gravitational force

→ F = m g

→ 45 = m ( 10 )

→ m = 45 / 10

m = 4.5 kg

Therefore,

  • Mass of stone = 4.5 kilograms.
