A Distance = 10 m and displacement = 10 m
B Distance = 20 m and displacement = 10 m

Distance is the total path length of the object that's why herein distance would be 20m { 10m (ascend) + 10m (descend)}.

While displacement is the minimum distance between intial and final position of the object , herein the stone returns back to its original position i.e, the hands that's why displacement would be 0.
